Launching Kenley new staff blogger

It absolutely was just over 2 yrs ago that I started as an Assistant Director of Admission at USC. Wow, just what a journey it is often! I work with students from the variety of areas: Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Kansas City, and parts of Orange County and San Diego (phew!). We have bright red hair, therefore the fiery personality to match, so I am always complete of energy or over for any adventure. We love to travel, explore the out-of-doors, bake anything with chocolate (lots from it!), and you can always find me dancing if you have a upbeat tune. I will be thrilled to be joining the blogging team and can’t wait to share some of my insights and knowledge about the admission procedure and college life.

I grew up in Utah and lived in the many mountains that are beautiful the globe. I spent quite a little bit of time checking out them, but got fed up with the winters that are lengthy which is why I happened to be eager to attend school in sunny Southern California. We attended Claremont McKenna College where I learned International Relations and Psychology.

I liked my university experience. I really adored it, which explains why I enjoy involved in higher education, specifically assisting students find an organization that is a fit that is good. It is extremely simple to talk to potential students about USC because it is this type of great place to live and learn. We have always been lucky to operate on such a dynamic, energy-filled campus. Our pupils are thinkers, academic options are plentiful, and we are located in an urban community in one of the best cities on the planet. I can’t wait to share more about the USC experience as well as the admission process within my posts to come!

Dining Table For Just One

‘ Our battered suitcases had been piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer methods to go. But no matter, the road is life.’ Jack Kerouac

Currently, this blog is being written by me sitting inside a Peet’s Coffee in Northern California. Dining Table for one, headphones in ears, answering emails and logging down notes about my senior high school visits from earlier today. For the next week and a half, i’ll be staying in hotel spaces and having dishes by myself. Usually, there is time for you explore the cities I visit so that’s nice. But most regarding the right time, the road can be tiring so I spend most of my time resting whenever you can. It’s very simple to get unwell regarding the road!
For around 8 weeks of the 12 months, a large number of admission representatives all around the nation live this life style. From the perspective that is outside it appears very glamorous. In lots of ways, it is just a extremely job that is fun. It is truly rewarding to find a way to help pupils in one of the very transitional phases in their life. It’s also nice having the capability to be away from the workplace. However, this right element of the work can be isolating as well. It makes me appreciate my buddies, wife and family right back at home even more.
Still, our mission is what is on the forefront. USC visits over 2,000 schools per year; we go to the most high schools out of any college in the nation. We are out here in search of students that may make up the next incoming class of freshmen at USC. It is our goal to place together a class that is exceptionally diverse year so we wish to meet all types of students. I am honored to complete my tiny part in this process. It brings me a feeling of satisfaction to operate for a university that aligns with my own vision for education.
So seek us down. Ask questions. Get to know us. We care about what we do and all we want is for you yourself to be pleased with your option. It is a big life decision so that it’s important to be well informed. If we look like we’re on the go in between visits, it is most likely because our company is. But we will constantly cause you to feel welcome to contact us at a various time, via e-mail or phone. We believe just what we do matters. It is loved by us. Whether or not it means sitting through one meal that is lonely a time ☺
